RZA Directed Episode Of Netflix's Upcoming "Iron Fist" Series

RZA is an artistic genius.

RZA strikes again in the directors chair. It's been reported that the Wu-Tang legend has directed episode 6 of "Iron Fist," the upcoming Netflix series.

As revealed during an Q&A with Finn Jones, the actor who plays the title role in "Iron Fist," RZA has an incredible vision of what he aims to accomplish. Here's an excerpt of what Jones had to say about RZA:

"Oh, he's a dude ... He's a complete dude. Actually really sweet but chill. He has a really good vision of what he wants. He understands that martial arts genre."

RZA has previously directed 2013's The Man With The Iron Fists, a marital-arts film with no connection to the Netflix show. If you saw the flick, you know RZA sure can make a kung-fu action sequence look dope.

Vince Staples and Raekwon Tackle "The Rap Music Generation Gap Debate" in Complex Conversations

Rap culture runs in cycles. Every few years or so there’s a changing of the guard, as a crop of upstart artists emerge on the scene and alter both the face and sound of the music landscape. Whenever these seismic shifts occur, there’s often a divisive conversation between gatekeepers of the old and the new. As the age of mumble rap takes hold of the charts, rising stars like Lil Yachty, Desiigner and Lil Uzi Vert come under fire from hip-hop veterans and critics alike for disregarding lyricism in favor of swag and essentially “killing the culture.”

Pharrell's Reaction On ODB's singing

“Pop Shit” featured Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s unmistakable vocal presence and incorporated some of Pharrell’s signature singing style. An unbridled party record filled with references to getting high and getting away with wild escapades, the song in many ways is the embodiment of who O.D.B. was as an artist – uncut, raw, and liable to get you insanely amped up. Beyond his massive presence on the recording, Dirt McGirt’s energy in the studio at the time of the song’s recording was enough to make Pharrell geek out. In a clip from a Vh1 program documenting Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s life on parole, The Neptunes can be seen in the studio laying down the track with their featured guest. “I need that ‘wow’ shit,” P tells O.D.B. at one point before suggesting that he try to sing something. It’s at that point when Dirty says “I’ll do it, but I want your touch on it, man.” P ain’t having it, and rebuffs O.D.B., explaining he wants O.D.B. to sing on the intro to the song. Dirt is clearly outside of his comfort zone, but takes up the challenge head on – and leaves the entire studio entourage wired.
